Using Ordeo

Receive privately with a private address or registered keys

You can be paid privately in two ways: share an ordeo: private address, or register your keys once so people can pay your ordinary 0x address.

Your private address

A private address is ordeo: followed by your public note key and your public viewing key, 64 hex characters each. It is derived from your keys, so it is the same every time you sign in with the same wallet and passphrase.

You can share it freely. It never appears on chain and it does not reveal your wallet address. Find it in /app after signing.

Register your keys

  1. 01

    Sign to open your notes

The app needs your public keys to register them.

  2. 02

    Choose register

In the app’s settings, choose to register your keys.

  3. 03

    Confirm one transaction

It calls register on OrdeoKeyLedger from your wallet and pays a small amount of ETH gas. You do this once.

What registering makes public

Registering publishes your address next to your public note key. It does not reveal your notes, your balance or who pays you. It does tell the world that this address uses Ordeo.

Without registering you can still receive through your private address or payment links, and you can hold, send, sell and unshield as usual.

What can go wrong

  • Different passphrase. A private address made with a passphrase only works when you sign in with that passphrase.
  • Mistyped address. Always paste a private address; do not retype it.
Until the contracts are deployed, the app runs in practice mode: each action is a signed message, no transaction is sent and balances are practice balances. The same screens go live once the contracts are deployed.
